Prayers

 

Prayer is at the heart of personal relationship with God.  It is about talking to God and listening to Him.  It can take many forms - praise, intercession (asking for help), or just meditation amongst others.

Here are a few prayers which may be helpful - as well as a link to our intercessions for this month.  If there is anything you would like us to pray for, please complete our prayer request form.

Praying with others across the world

Lord, you said that when two or three would gather together in your name, then you would be present with them.

I am praying by myself (or ‘on the Internet’) but I am uniting myself with many individual Christians throughout the world who, though separate, are gathered together in another sense to pray to you, and I trust that you are with me now.

O Christ, our Morning Star,
Splendour of Light Eternal,
shining with the glory of the rainbow,
come and waken us
from the greyness of our apathy,
and renew in us your gift of hope.

We beseech thee, Master, to be our helper and protector.
Save the afflicted among us; have mercy on the lowly;
raise up the fallen; appear to the needy; heal the ungodly;
restore the wanderers of thy people;
feed the hungry; ransom our prisoners;

A prayer for peace

Dear God,

Lead me from death to life, from falsehood to truth.  Lead me from despair to hope, from fear to trust.  Lead me from hate to love, from war to peace.  Let peace fill our heart, our world, our universe. 

Please heal those who have committed grave travesties upon others and prevent them from such actions again.  Please comfort, bless and heal those who have suffered under the hand of their violence.  Please allow our world to come back to a position of peace, joy and understanding.
