Christian Tai Chi and Meditation on a Tue night at 8.00pm, new beginers now starting 2012 come along and see.
Within the western culture we are all living longer - thats the good news. However this means that an awful lot of us are carrying our aches and pains late into life. Also in our modern culture we seem to have a lot of people suffering from stress and depression. The big question for the church and you and me is what to do about it? As Christians within the west we would normally turn to the traditional ways of dealing with these problems, joining a gym or keep fit club or something similar, as for stress or depression we go to our Doctor and they might prescribe some kind of medication, which can in itself lead to problems.
Here at Christ Church we believe that there is an important place for traditional western medicine and we thank God for everything it has achieved and for all the people working in health care in any capacity. However, we are also developing complementary ways to combat these problems in ways that bring healing to the whole body, mind and spirit.
Unlike most body excesses Tai Chi is soft and gentle, the movements are slow and are designed to excesses the body slowly over time, helping you to recover your flexibility in your joints and body, there is no running or getting out of breath, the concept of a no pain no gain is not in the vocabulary of Tai Chi practise, everything is done so that the body is and its problems are respected. There are different styles of Tai Chi and we have developed ours just for heath .
So why Tai Chi? Tai Chi is one of the few exercises that works the whole body outside and inside, the spine and back, all the joints, the heart, the circulation, your inner organs, and the breathing, as well as helping with balance and focusing the mind. If we add Christian Meditation into mix then we finish with what we believe to be one of the most complete exercise forms out there.
If you would like to experience our exercise and meditation evening we meet on a Tuesday night at Christ church Luton from 8.00pm to 9.30pm, classes are suitable for all from beginners to experts and all are welcome.
